It has been a long wait for Loki but the series premiere was certainly worth it. Glorious Purpose made sure fans were able to learn everything they needed to know about the God of Mischief after his daring escape in Avengers: Endgame. However, people are also in tears after seeing a truly emotional scene in the Marvel Cinematic Universe show.

WATCH OUT! The following contains SPOILERS from Loki Episode 1! PROCEED WITH CAUTION!

In Glorious Purpose, the alternate version of Loki who escaped with the Tesseract is captured by Time Variance Authority (TVA). He is then presented at TVA court to face judge Ravenna Renslayer for his crimes. Loki also meets Agent Mobius M. Morbius who brings him to a room for questioning.

Interestingly, Loki is confronted with things that happen in the Sacred Timeline. This is how he learns about the deaths of his parents Frigga and Odin. The realization that his actions led directly to his mother's death is obviously too painful for Loki.

However, it doesn't stop there. Loki also discovers that he eventually bonds with Thor. Moreover, he gets to see how he ultimately sacrificed himself and was killed by Thanos.

Tom Hiddleston's subtle yet powerful performance in this scene alone was enough to leave fans in tears.

It may have been torture for Loki to see all these things happen to the ones he holds dear (although he would never admit it) but it was also enough to make him agree to work with TVA. With that in mind, we can expect to see him in action next week.

Loki Episode 1 is now streaming on Disney+.
