Logan Director Says Hugh Jackman was Never Fitted for Classic Wolverine Mask

Fans probably have no problems with Hugh Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine in the X-Men movies although he looks nothing like the original character from the comic books. But was there ever a time that Jackman considered strapping into Wolverine's classic mask from the comics? Logan director James Mangold has revealed that that particular suit was never in consideration for the film.

Mangold and Jackman recently took part in an online viewing party of Logan and the filmmaker shared some interesting information about the movie. For instance, Mangold was asked if there was any point during filming that Jackman put on the classic Wolverine mask and costume. Interestingly, the director that this was never considered.

"Sorry. He never put it on. We never even made a version of the outfit. Everything about his character as I understand it, would keep him from donning a self-promoting 'uniform'," Mangold wrote. He then teased that fans shouldn't give up on hope in seeing the classic Wolverine costume.

"I'm sure the next incarnation of the Wolverine will go there," Mangold wrote.

That sounds hopeful but it seems like Mangold also confirmed that Jackman might not return as Wolverine anytime soon. Nevertheless, it does make room for a new actor to take on the role in a possible X-Men movie from Disney and Marvel Studios.

For now, Disney's plans for Wolverine and the rest of the X-Men have not yet been announced. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
