Linda Blair Denies Involvement in The Exorcist Sequel

There is little doubt that fans are expecting to see Regan MacNeil again after it was confirmed that The Exorcist is getting a sequel trilogy. However, it might be too soon to expect more of the former possessed child. Linda Blair has just denied any involvement in the upcoming projects.

Blair took to her official Twitter account to share a statement about the Exorcist sequels. Check it out below.

"To all my fans asking about my involvement in the new Exorcist reboot, as of now there has not been any discussions about me participating or reprising my role," Blair wrote. She then added that she is excited about the new films.

"I wish all those involved the best and I appreciate the loyalty and passions the fans have for The Exorcist and my character," Blair concluded.

It's important to point out that although Blair wrote that the new films are a reboot, they are actually sequels to the events that took place in 1973's The Exorcist. The new movies will follow a father (Leslie Odom Jr.) of a possessed child who reaches out to Regan's mother Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn) for help.

For now, it looks like only Burstyn will be returning in the Exorcist sequel. However, there is still a possibility that the studios will reach out to Blair soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

The first movie in the new Exorcist trilogy is already set for a theatrical release on October 13, 2023. The next two films are then expected to stream exclusively on Peacock.
