James Gunn Confirms Awesome Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Family Cameo

We've always known that James Gunn loves to keep it in the family. After all, the Suicide Squad director is always collaborating with his brother Sean Gunn who has appeared in all of his projects. Amazingly, Gunn has confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 actually featured more of his family members than we initially thought.

A post on the subReddit r/MovieDetails confirms the photo-happy couple seen in Vol. 2 are his parents. In addition to that, they are credited as "Weird Old Man" and Weird Old Man's Mistress." The filmmaker took a screenshot of the post and shared it on Twitter with the caption, "True."

Amazingly, James F. Gunn (the dad) and Leota Gunn (the mom) are not the only family members who appeared in the second Guardians movie. Gunn added that there are several relatives who had small cameos in the film.

"Also, my brother, his wife & their 3 kids were right beside them & were all mowed down by Ego. My niece & brother-in-law were yellow aliens also mowed down. & my niece Grace was the pink alien who was the 1st life form Ego met," Gunn wrote.

The filmmaker further added that "my family loves getting killed in my movies." This shouldn't be a huge surprise considering that his family is truly proud of Gunn's career. Needless to say, we'll be keeping an eye out for other Gunns appearing in his future projects.

Gunn is set to begin working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 soon. The sequel is scheduled for release on May 5, 2023.
