The first trailer for IT: Chapter Two is finally here and the Loser's Club is back in Derry, Maine. Unfortunately, the terrors of their childhood are still all too real, as Beverly Marsh (Jessica Chastain) discovers in a truly terrifying scene straight from the Stephen King novel.
The trailer opens with Beverly returning to the apartment where she used to live in as a child. It is now occupied by a sweet old lady who promptly invites her in for tea and biscuits.
Beverly finds that the apartment is still a lot like she remembered except "cleaner" and comes across the old postcard from Ben Hanscom (although she thinks it's from Bill Denborough). While she reminisces, the little old lady appears to be skittering around the apartment.
Things start to get truly creepy when the old woman starts revealing some strange details about herself then asks Beverly if she is still daddy's little girl. At this point, it is revealed that Mrs. Kersh isn't as sweet as we thought she was. (Also, she's even a lot scarier than she appeared in the book).
Chastain has previously teased that she filmed a bloody scene for Chapter 2. If you look closely, you'll see just how bloody the sequence truly was.
The synopsis for Chapter 2 reads as follows:
“The film is Muschietti’s follow-up to 2017’s critically acclaimed and massive worldwide box office hit IT, which grossed over $700 million globally. Both redefining and transcending the genre, IT became part of the cultural zeitgeist as well as the highest-grossing horror film of all time. Because every 27 years evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, It Chapter Two brings the characters—who’ve long since gone their separate ways—back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film.”
It: Chapter 2 will premiere on September 6.
