Is WandaVision Based on a Comic?

There is little doubt that people have a lot of questions about WandaVision after watching the teasers for the Marvel Cinematic Universe series. Perhaps one of the most important ones is whether WandaVision is based on a comic book. Luckily, we have the answer right here.

Is WandaVision based on the comics?

Although WandaVision is not going to adopt a particular comic book story arc, it has been confirmed that the show is inspired by a limited comic series. Back in October 2019, writer Tom King confirmed during the DC Nation panel at New York Comic Con that WandaVision is inspired by his and Gabriel H. Walta's The Vision.

"The way this started was I did this story called The Vision for some other company, and I got very lucky and it became a good success... and they're making a TV show out of it," King said.

In The Vision, the android decides that he wants to be human and the best way to do so is to start his own family. After creating a wife and two children, Vision lives a suburban life but things don't go according to his plans.

This sounds exactly like the premise of WandaVision and could also be a clue to what could happen in the series. Did Vision create a world where he is living a good life with Wanda or is there somebody else involved? We'll find out for sure in January.

WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Teyonah Parris, Kat Dennings, Randall Park, and Kathryn Hahn. The series will premiere on Disney+ on January 15, 2021.
