Idris Elba's The Suicide Squad Character Might Confirm Henry Cavill's Cameo as Superman

There is little doubt that Idris Elba's character in The Suicide Squad was the one thing that people have been speculating about for a long time. Luckily, we finally know who Elba is playing and this DC comic book antihero might confirm that Henry Cavill's Superman will show up in the DC Extended Universe flick.

The official roll call for The Suicide Squad was unveiled early in the film's panel at DC FanDome and it was immediately confirmed that Elba has been cast to play Bloodsport.

But wait, there are two Bloodsports in the DC comic books, right? Amazingly, the panel went out of its way to reveal which version of Bloodsport will appear in The Suicide Squad. At one point, the cast played a trivia game asking which character is known for shooting Superman. Elba and Viola Davis were quick to answer that it was Bloodsport, confirming that the former is playing Robert DuBois.

In the comics, Robert was supplied by Lex Luthor with weapons including bullets made of kryptonite. Bloodsport used the bullet to shoot and effectively injure Superman, leading to Robert being put in jail.

So does this mean we'll get to see the Man of Steel in The Suicide Squad? Although the cameo was not confirmed, it's a possibility that could be similar to what happened in the first Suicide Squad film where both The Flash and Batman made an appearance. However, it is important to point out that this has not yet been confirmed so it's best to take this with a grain of salt.

The Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 6, 2021.
