Idris Elba Admits Being Proud of Bloodsport for Putting Superman in the ICU

There is little doubt that Bloodsport is notorious in the comic books for one particular reason. The character is famous for shooting Superman with a kryptonite bullet and effectively sending the superhero to the ICU. Needless to say, it's a badass claim to fame and The Suicide Squad star Idris Elba is proud of what his character has done.

It's no secret that DC fans know about Bloodsport simply because of what he did to Superman. However, The Suicide Squad changed that by revealing more about the character's backstory. That all happened because of Elba's awesome performance in the DC Extended Universe film.

But what does Elba actually think about Bloodsport shooting Superman? Amazingly, he admitted to Desus and Mero that he feels a sense of pride for what his character has accomplished.

"Call me sick, but I'm kind of proud of that. I love Superman by the way. But, trust me, anytime I can talk about that, I will," Elba said of Bloodsport's claim to fame. He then went on to praise James Gunn for what he did in the film.

"Look, this movie is a reinvention from Suicide Squad, which was a good movie also. But, this movie is James Gunn's take on the new Suicide Squad. It's quite fresh, it's very risqué. Very adult, you know what I mean," Elba said.

Bloodsport plays an important role in The Suicide Squad, being the leader of Team Two. This was the team that was tasked with doing away with the rebels and shutting down Project Starfish. Needless to say, it wouldn't be the same without Bloodsport although there were plans to use a different character at first.

The Suicide Squad also stars Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, John Cena, Peter Capaldi, and more. The film is now screening in theaters and on HBO Max.
