Godzilla vs Kong Delivers $120M in Jaw-Dropping Global Opening Weekend


The real Titans of cinema have once again proven why they are known as such. Godzilla vs. Kong has just brought in a little over $120 million in the international box office on its opening weekend alone.

It was previously reported that Godzilla vs Kong is expected to earn at least $100 million globally. This was after the Legendary film hauled in almost $50 million on Friday and Saturday in China.

Not surprisingly, the MonsterVerse movie did a lot better than expected. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Godzilla vs Kong delivered $121.8 million on its international opening weekend.

As impressive as these numbers are, Godzilla vs Kong is expected to bring in more coin this week. After all, the film has yet to be released in the US and although it is only going to be screened in limited theaters, fans are undoubtedly ready to see the two Titans fighting on the big screen.

Godzilla vs Kong currently has the best opening weekend to date during the pandemic era. The Warner Bros. movie's success is also proof that people are ready to go back to the theaters for a film that has been delayed for a long time. Needless to say, we're expecting the MonsterVerse to thrive in the future.

Godzilla vs Kong is directed by Adam Wingard and stars Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir. The movie is currently screening internationally. However it is set to premiere in selected theaters in the US and on HBO Max on March 31.
