George R.R. Martin Offers Update on The Winds of Winter and Game of Thrones Spinoff House of the Dragon

The mandatory self-quarantines caused by the Coronavirus outbreak might be a terrible thing for the rest of the world but it may have been the best thing that happened to Game of Thrones fans. After all, George R.R. Martin had previously confirmed that he is using his time in self-isolation to work on the sixth book of his A Song of Ice and Fire novel series. Interestingly, The Winds of Winter isn't the only project that the author is keeping an eye on. He also offered an update on the Game of Thrones spin-off show House of the Dragon.

Martin took to his blog to share some updates about his work progress. The writer confirmed that he is still working on The Winds of Winter. In addition to that, he shared new details about House of the Dragon.

"The only thing I am writing myself is THE WINDS OF WINTER, as I have said many times… but with my producer's hat on, I am still involved in a number of exciting new shows for HBO, and a few film projects as well," Martin wrote. "When and if any of these make it to the screen, well, that's always the question… but I do know that Ryan Condal and his team are roaring ahead on the scripts for HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, and that one has a full season's order from HBO."

It's great to know that Martin is still hard at work on the sixth ASOIAF novel but it might also be helpful if he offers a tentative release date for the book. Still, we all know he isn't the fastest writer so we'll have to be satisfied with the idea that he is still typing new pages up.

The Winds of Winter has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
