Former Supergirl Star Melissa Benoist Supports Sasha Calle Casting in The Flash Movie

There's a new Supergirl in town and nobody is more thrilled about it than Arrowverse's Girl of Steel. Melissa Benoist congratulated Sasha Calle on being cast as the DC superhero in The Flash film and Calle had the cutest reaction to Benoist's post.

Calle's casting was made official by The Flash director Andy Muschietti, who shared the Zoom video call where he dropped the news on the young actress. Benoist quickly took a screenshot of the video and posted it in her Instagram stories with an awesome message.

"This is [100 emoji]. YES girl you CAN fly! Welcome to the DC Universe @sashacalle. Cannot wait to see you as SG. The world needs as many Supergirls as it can get," Benoist wrote.

It's a sweet message that confirmed Benoist is supporting the casting all the way. Calle was delighted with the post and shared it in her Instagram stories, this time with an adorable confession of her admiration for Benoist.

"Melissa! This means so much. My little brother and I have watched every episode. This was such a sweet moment for us. Thank you," Calle wrote.

Benoist plays Kara Danvers in the CW series Supergirl. She will reprise the role in the sixth and final season of the show later this year.

Calle was chosen among 400 actresses who auditioned for the role of Kara Zor-El in The Flash. According to Muschietti, the casting was a difficult process. However, they "finally found an actress who was destined to play this role."

Calle is expected to start working on The Flash soon and there are speculations that she could reprise the role in another DC Extended Universe project. The film is currently scheduled for release on November 4, 2022.
