The first Hobbs & Shaw trailer is officially out and it looks like Idris Elba will be a hard man to take down. The teaser confirms that Elba is playing a villain with awesome superhero enhancements.
The trailer opens with Elba's character revealing his evil plans. "I'm the necessary shock to the system," he declares as he undergoes some painful enhancements on his body. "I am human evolutionary change." He reveals that he is "bulletproof" and "superhuman." When asked who he is, he simply replies, "Bad guy."
The character is Brixton and he is an international terrorist leader flirting with invincibility. Needless to say, dealing with an enhanced supervillain is a job for Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham). However, the two aren't very happy about having to work together. Can they capture Brixton without killing each other? We'll find out this August.
The new Fast & Furious movie will introduce The Crown star Vanessa Kirby as Hattie Shaw, Deckard's sister who also happens to be an MI6 agent. In addition to that, Helen Mirren will reprise her role from The Fate of the Furious as the delightful Magdalene Shaw, Deckard and Hattie's mother.
The film will also feature WWE wrestler Roman Reigns, John Tui of Power Rangers S.P.D., Fear The Walking Dead's Cliff Curtis as well as Baby Driver actress Eiza Gonzales. Interestingly, Gonzales will be playing the mysterious Madam M. Is she perhaps another supervillain with interesting enhancements? We'll find out soon enough.
Hobbs & Shaw is scheduled for release on August 2.
