We will soon be meeting a new group of heroes who have been around for centuries. That's how long Sersi and Ikaris have been together when we meet them in Marvel's Eternals, but how hard was it to act as you've been in love for several lifetimes? Gemma Chan revealed that it was actually easy for her and co-star Richard Madden.
It's no secret that Sersi and Ikaris have been together for ages in the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick. The span of their relationship is briefly teased in the trailer for Eternals and is expected to be a major part of the film.
Interestingly, Chan confided in Vogue that her character and Ikaris "are kind of immortal soulmates." That was a challenge that the Raya and the Last Dragon star gladly took.
"That was a fun thing to play. Over a span of a thousand years, how do you play a normal relationship?" Chan said. She then revealed why it was so easy for her and Madden to play the lovers.
"The good thing is, Richard and I have known each other for over 10 years," Chan stated.
It is awesome to know that Chan and Madden found the time to work together in a major MCU flick. The chemistry between the two will be something to look forward to in Eternals.
Although Sersi and Ikaris are "immortal soulmates," that doesn't mean there won't be trouble in paradise. It is believed that Dane Whitman aka Black Knight will potentially come between the two. The interesting thing is, Dane is played by Madden's former Game of Thrones co-star Kit Harington.
Eternals is directed by Chloe Zhao and also stars Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Gil Birmingham, Harish Patel, and Salma Hayek. The film is scheduled for release on November 5, 2021.
