Eragon Author Wants Disney to Produce Book Series Remake

It seems like every fantasy book series has been getting an adaptation in the past decade. Not surprisingly, this had led to speculations that Eragon might be also set for a remake and Christopher Paolini has just admitted that he wants Disney to work on it.

There have been previous reports suggesting that an Eragon remake is currently in development at Disney+. However, the streaming service has yet to confirm the project.

In the meantime, the news has reached Paolini and he's thrilled with the idea. Taking to his official Twitter account, the author called on fans of the YA novel series to join a tweetstorm begging for the adaptation.

Fans of the Inheritance Cycle book series were actually the ones who are planning the tweetstorm. You can read more about it here.

Eragon has already been adapted back in 2006 in a film directed by Stefen Fangmeier. The movie was led by Ed Speleers in the title role and featured big stars like Jeremy Irons, Sienna Guillory, Robert Carlyle, Djimon Hounsou, Garrett Hedlund, Joss Stone, John Malkovich, and Rachel Weisz.

The adaptation may have boasted of a huge budget and an amazing cast but it didn't do well at the box office. Unfortunately, this led to a possible film franchise being cancelled. Hopefully, things will change with a Disney+ series. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
