Doom Patrol Extended Trailer Reveals Negative Man's Surprise Backstory

The premiere of Doom Patrol is almost here so DC Universe has unveiled a lengthy trailer focusing on the entire team's backstory. And to keep things really interesting, there's a talking cockroach who's looking forward to the mayhem.

The trailer opens with The Chief (Timothy Dalton) fixing Robotman (Brendan Fraser). We are quickly introduced to Negative Man (Matt Bomer), who was once a pilot who enjoyed a lot of "late night beers with the guys" before he crashed into negative energy. Robotman's past is also visited before we learn all about Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby).

The first three characters are understandably wary of Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero), who reveals she has 64 distinct personalities as a result of experiments done on her. Interestingly, The Chief also reaches out to Cyborg (Joivan Wade) to complete the team and go up against Mr. Nobody (Alan Tudyk).

It's certainly a lengthy trailer that offers glimpses at the action and the difficulties that each character will go through. Fortunately, there are light moments as well as Crazy Jane sends Robotman flying through the air with a single punch and a donkey inexplicably turns up on a sidewalk. Perhaps the best part is the talking cockroach who is so ready for the end of days. Something tells me this little critter is going to be a big part of the series.

The synopsis for Doom Patrol reads as follows:

"Set after the events of Titans, the Doom Patrol – consisting of Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman, Crazy Jane and new recruit Cyborg led by Dr. Niles Caulder – receive a mission to stop the supernatural supervillain known as Mr. Nobody from taking over the world."

Doom Patrol will premiere on DC Universe on February 15.
