Does The Book of Boba Fett Mean The End for The Mandalorian?

There is little doubt that people are currently excited about The Book of Boba Fett, the new Star Wars series that will focus on the bounty hunter and his companion Fennec Shand. After all, fans have been hoping to see more of Boba and Fennec in action after their appearance in The Mandalorian Season 2. But could the new show also mean that The Mandalorian is officially over?

The final episode of The Mandalorian Season 2 concluded with Mando allowing Baby Yoda to go with Luke Skywalker to continue his Jedi training. However, Chapter 16: The Rescue didn't end on a depressing note. The post-credits scene followed Boba and Fennec as they went back to Jabba the Hutt's Palace on Tatooine, killed Bib Fortuna, and took over the throne. We then got a tease for The Book of Boba Fett.

So is The Book of Boba Fett actually the next chapter of The Mandalorian or is it a completely new show? Star Wars has just confirmed it's a spin-off series that will still take place in the same timeline as The Mandalorian.

Interestingly, it was also confirmed that The Book of Boba Fett will premiere in December next year, which is roughly about the same time that The Mandalorian should air on Disney+. So does this mean that the new show will replace Pedro Pascal's series?

For now, there is a good chance that The Mandalorian will be put on hold to make way for the other Star Wars shows that are being developed. However, we're still hoping that we haven't seen the last of Mando in his own show.
