Disney Could Introduce X-23 As The MCU's New Wolverine After Hugh Jackman

There is little doubt that people are still hoping that Hugh Jackman would eventually reprise his role as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it looks like Disney isn't really interested in making the Greatest Showman star play the mutant in several films. Instead, the studio is planning to bring in X-23 as the new Wolverine.

A new report from We Got It Covered cites an anonymous source who claims that Disney still wants Jackman to return as the mutant. However, Jackman's cameo is only expected to make way for Laura, Wolverine's young clone/daughter who was introduced in the 2017 film Logan. Laura is then expected to take on the Wolverine mantle and join the X-Men lineup in the MCU.

This isn't really a huge surprise considering that Logan concluded with the death of Wolverine and Laura setting off with other young mutants. Although 20th Century Fox didn't actually confirm a Logan sequel focusing on Laura, there is a huge chance that Disney will pick up on the opportunity of introducing X-23 as the new Wolverine. For now, there aren't any announcements about mutant-related projects but it's possible that X-23 will be part of the MCU really soon.

But who could play X-23 in the MCU? Fans are hoping that Marvel Studios will bring back Dafne Keen to reprise her role as Laura. After all, the His Dark Materials star did an amazing job in Logan. It would be interesting to see her return so we could see how Laura has grown since Wolverine's death.

Should X-23 take on the Wolverine mantle when the X-Men join the MCU? Sound off in the comments below.
