Black Widow Star Scarlett Johansson Gets Rare Double Oscar Nomination

Fans have always known that Scarlett Johansson is a truly gifted actress but now the Black Widow star has truly proven it. Johansson has just been nominated for two Oscars for two separate films.

The Oscar nominees have just been announced and it was confirmed that Johansson is up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for her amazing performance in Marriage Story. In the Adam Driver film, Johansson portrayed a woman going through a painful divorce.

But that's not the only thing that Johansson is nominated for. She is also up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for Taika Waititi's Jojo Rabbit. In the movie, Johansson is a young mother of a Hitler Youth member who happens to be hiding a Jewish girl in their attic.

It's great to see that the Academy has recognized Johansson's work in both films and felt that she deserved to be nominated for two categories. However, it's best to remember that she's still up against some stiff competition.

Interestingly, Disney tried to nominate Johansson for the Best Supporting Actress Award for Avengers: Endgame. However, the Academy clearly had other plans for the actress.

Johansson will reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff in Black Widow although the character was killed off in Endgame. The film also stars Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Rachel Weisz. Black Widow will premiere on May 1.
