Black Widow Could Get Disney+ Release but Kevin Feige is Fighting to Prevent it

There is little doubt that fans are eager to see Black Widow in theaters. But will Disney actually consider releasing the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick on its streaming service? That's reportedly on the table right now but Kevin Feige is doing everything in his power to prevent it.

Black Widow was originally one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2020. However, the film had to be pushed back as theaters were closed down due to COVID-19. Sadly, the pandemic has caused the MCU film to be pushed back repeatedly until Marvel Studios settled for a May 7 release date.

There's a good reason why Black Widow kept being pushed back. Feige had made it clear that the studio has every intention of giving the movie a theatrical release without competing with a digital release on Disney+. However, as COVID-19 cases continue to rise, the House of Mouse might be considering pushing for a hybrid release similar to Mulan.

The hybrid release has been an option where the film is released in selected theaters and on a streaming service. Warner Bros. already proved it's a relatively successful movie with Wonder Woman 1984. However, Variety reports that Feige is against giving Black Widow a digital release in any form.

For now, Black Widow is still scheduled for theatrical release on May 7, 2021. However, there is a possibility that Disney could force Marvel Studios to consider a digital release on the same date to avoid further delay of other projects.

Do you think Black Widow should be released on Disney+ or does it deserve to get a full theatrical release? Sound off in the comments below.
