Most of us have probably had nightmares about Pennywise after seeing Bill Skarsgard's performance as the terrible dancing clown in It: Chapter One. Interestingly, even Skarsgard himself kept seeing the monstrous villain in his dreams long after It: Chapter Two wrapped filming.

Skarsgard recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about how doing normal things after working on Chapter 2 made him believe he was finally done with Pennywise.

"After we wrapped, I was in my childhood home in Sweden, sitting having coffee with my mom at our kitchen table, and realized, ‘Oh, holy sh—, I don't have to deal with this relationship anymore!' It was a very quick shift of just feeling better, like, ‘Oh my God, I'm relieved that I don't have to deal with the darkness of the character.' I likened it to an exorcism – him exiting my body and getting rid of the Pennywise toxins," Skarsgard said.

Unfortunately, the clown didn't leave him alone for too long. Soon, the Hemlock Grove star began seeing Pennywise in nightmares.

"I was home, done with the movie, and I started having very strange and vivid Pennywise dreams. Every night, he came and visited," Skarsgard confessed. "It was in the shape of either me dealing with him, sort of Pennywise as a separate entity of me, and then also me as Pennywise in circumstances that I didn't appreciate. Like, I'm Pennywise and I'm really upset that I'm out in public and people are looking at me."

It certainly sounds terrifying but Skarsgard believes it was the only way he could finally rid himself of the terrible character he portrayed. "This was a process of letting go of the monster," he said. "It was amazing. It's a daunting but exciting thing to sort of revisit him again."

it certainly looks like Skarsgard is already moving forward after dealing with Pennywise in his nightmares. The Deadpool 2 actor is already set to star in a new film The Devil All The Time alongside Marvel stars Tom Holland and Sebastian Stan.

It: Chapter 2 is based on Stephen King's bestselling novel and directed by Andy Muschietti. The sequel will premiere on September 6.
