Batwoman Showrunner Reveals Details About New Character Replacing Ruby Rose's Kate Kane

We already know that Ruby Rose will not be returning as Kate Kane in the second season of Batwoman. But who will be the new superhero who will take over in Season 2 of the CW series? Showrunner Caroline Dries has shared some interesting details about the mysterious new character.

Dries recently took part in the virtual ATX Television Festival where she spoke about plans for Batwoman Season 2. Interestingly, she confirmed that the new star of the DC show is not a character from the comic books.

"I'm inventing a whole new character," Dries confirmed. She then revealed that this new heroine is a huge fan of Kate's.

"In her past, she was inspired by Batwoman. She is going to take on the mantle and is completely maybe not the right person at the time to be doing it. That's what makes it fun," Dries said.

This pretty much confirms that people shouldn't expect a DC comic book hero to take over Batwoman Season 2. Although it seems like a risky move, it's also an interesting one as we are all curious about this new character and how she will live up to Kate's legacy.

Rose has previously confirmed her departure from Batwoman stating that the exit was agreed by all parties. Although it's disappointing to know that Kate only reigned as Batwoman for one season, we're also looking forward to how she influenced the next hero who is determined to protect Gotham.

Batwoman Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
