Avengers 4 Theory Suggests Nick Fury Knew Thanos Was Coming All Along

There is little doubt that Nick Fury is the one Marvel Cinematic Universe character who knows a lot more than the rest of us. However, a new Avengers 4 theory suggests that the former SHIELD leader actually knew that Thanos was coming and that he would destroy half the universe in Avengers: Infinity War.

A Reddit post points out that Fury "always knows something that the other characters don't, and knows how to tell them just what they need to hear or he contributes something that makes a big difference with no explanation of how or why he knew to do it." This is obvious when he recruits Tony Stark, Thor, and Steve Rogers and knowing exactly what to do in key moments of the MCU.

For instance, Fury was the one who gave Tony the box contained Howard Stark's notes in Iron Man 2. He also showed up at Clint Barton's farm and persuaded the Avengers on how to move forward in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

So how does Fury know so much about pushing his team in the right direction? There is a possibility that the truth will be revealed in Captain Marvel. After all, the film will feature the young Fury dealing with Carol Danvers. The MCU flick might confirm that Fury saw what would happen in the future, thus the arrival of Thanos in Infinity War.

It's a well-thought theory that might work considering the rumors of time travel in Avengers 4. We'll have to wait until the premiere on Captain Marvel to see if Fury truly did get a glimpse of the future.

Captain Marvel will hit theaters on March 8, 2019. Avengers 4 is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.
