It looks like 2022 is going to be awesome. A new report reveals that Ant-Man 3 is happening and Peyton Reed is set to direct the third film following Scott Lang's adventures.

The good news comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which confirms that Reed has signed on for the third Ant-Man movie that is expected to bring back Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly. Although there were no other details revealed, the report also points out that the new Marvel Cinematic Universe flick could begin production late next year or in early 2021. The film could then get a 2022 release date.

Reed had directed the first two Ant-Man movies which starred Rudd as Scott, a former thief who is employed by Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). He eventually works with Pym's daughter Hope van Dyne (Lilly) in Ant-Man and the Wasp and even joins the Avengers in Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame.

It is still unclear which characters will return in Ant-Man 3 but Hannah John-Kamen had previously teased that we haven't seen the last of Ava Starr just yet. Will Ghost finally team up with Scott and Hope or will she continue to be one of the bad guys? We'll find out for sure in 2022.

For now, Marvel has not yet made an official announcement about Ant-Man 3. Nevertheless, we might get an update as soon as the cast is confirmed. This could mean that the film will be one of the movies that will be launched for MCU's Phase 5.
