Nicolas Cage Thinks His Canceled Superman Project Is “More Powerful” Than The Actual Movies

Superman Lives might have never been made, but Nicholas Cage claims that the canceled comicbook movie is the most "powerful" installment in the cinematic history of the Man of Steel.

Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly today, the Hollywood actor decided to open p about Superman Lives while promoting his upcoming project, Mom And Dad, a film by the director of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Brian Taylor.

Though the superhero movie never made it to the big screen, Superman Lives remains as one of the most discussed canceled projects in the history of Hollywood. Not only was Cage to play the role of The Last of Krypton, but the project was supposed to be directed by gothic fantasy filmmaker, Tim Burton. Though Burton saw to Superman Live's script drafts and its concept art, Warner Bros. decided to cancel the project after a year because of the film's mounting cost.

While quite a number of Superman films have come and gone after the studio decided to pull the plug on the project, Cage still believes that Superman Lives might have been the best Superman movie.

"I would offer that the movie that Tim and I would have made, in your imagination, is more powerful than any of the Superman movies. I didn't even have to make the movie and we all know what that movie would have been in your imagination. That is the Superman. That is the movie. Even though you never saw it — it is the Superman."

It might be hard to imagine Cage as Superman, but if the film had been done right, Superman Lives might have batted away the controversy surrounding the notion of the Ghost Rider star putting on the Man of Steel's cape.
