Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead Originally Had a Zombie Rape Scene

Zack Snyder has, ironically, brought Army of the Dead back from production hell and will be directing this movie as a Netflix exclusive. The film is being seen by many as an interesting return to form for the director, whose first big movie was a remake of Dawn of the Dead. It seems like not everything from the movie's old drafts will be brought back though as something has been removed for the better.

Thanks to Den of Geek, we now know that a disgusting zombie rape scene has been removed. The original draft, which was discussed in a 2011 io9 interview by previous director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr stated that there would have been a sick zombie rape scene. In the movie, male zombies would rape female women so that they could have sick offspring babies.

"There's an extra dimension to this zombiefilm,because they…. they…. I'm still wondering if I should tell this…. the male zombies rape human females. And they have human hybrid zombie offsprings. It's a new take on the zombie genre, which is crazy."

It's a pretty disgusting concept. Maybe if the rape was implied, like in Mad Max: Fury Road, this could have been slightly more tasteful. Still, no matter how you slice it, this is a terrible thing and it's good to know that the new version won't be having it.

Army of the Dead currently has no release date.
