The New Mutants’ Josh Boone Confirms Lockheed Will Appear in the Movie

The New Mutants will be hitting our cinemas soon after literal years of waiting and we are fairly excited to check it out. Josh Boone has been pretty honest about the movie during a number of interviews, claiming that no reshoots were ever shot and how Disney is actually letting him make the movie the way he wants. Well, the director just gave us the best confirmation thus far; Lockheed will be appearing in the movie.

During the movie's most recent trailer, the final few moments had Magik using her powers in the best way possible and we saw Lockheed help her out. While that essentially confirmed the character, Boone did confirm that the plucky purple dragon will be present in the movie to EW. He's always been a fan-favorite and though we won't be seeing him with Kitty Pryde, it will be fun seeing him in live-action.

"You see a little bit of him there. I wouldn't say too much more, but I was pleased with how we had him in the world and had him as part of Illyana's story."

We're sure that Illyana will summon him from Limbo or something, though some of us are hoping that his presence doesn't kill the horror aesthetic. Having a cute purple dragon might ruin some of the suspense, though that might not be the case if he appears sparingly or if they hint at him appearing later on.

The New Mutants will finally hit theaters on April 3.
