Despite some solid trailers, including this thrilling Korean TV spot, fans aren’t too excited about Terminator: Dark Fate. The franchise only has two good movies, three depending on how some fans feel, and things have only gone downhill from there. It doesn’t help that the most recent film, Terminator: Genisys, attempted to fix the universe’s timeline but was so bad that no one wants to see another movie in this franchise.

Well, we have another Terminator: Dark Fate TV spot and it’s decent enough. The action looks great and there are some cool moments but it just might be too late for this franchise. Sure, the movie has some solid talent working on it but the movie series just feels tainted at this point. We’ll just have to wait and see if this film ends up becoming better than most of us expect.

The marketing for this movie confirmed that Dark Fate will take place sometime after Terminator 2, the last good film in this franchise. This means that Terminator 3, Terminator Salvation, and Terminator: Genisys won’t be canon anymore, which makes trying to invest in this franchise frustrating, to say the least.

Sorry if it sounds like we’re dunking on this movie, but it is hard to feel excited about Dark Fate. Hell, I’m not even sorry to say that this film could end up having a “dark fate” if it isn’t received well. Once again, I’m willing to be proven wrong and would love to see another good Terminator movie but I’m not getting my hopes up.

Terminator: Dark Fate comes out on October 23.
