Star Wars: Ron Howard Keeps Quiet About Solo Directorial Duties

The first trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story was a blessing to many fans, thanks to plenty of new locations and creatures, building upon the world of the franchise. Prior to that fans has plenty of understandable concerns, with Chris Miller and Phil Lord of 21 Jump Street fame originally slated to direct the film before they were let go and replaced by Ron Howard.

While the trailer did set things right, fans have been curious about Howard's involvement and how much work he had to put in. Some have speculated that he basically shot from scratch, while others are hopeful that the material Lord and Miller put will remain. Unfortunately, those fans will have to keep on hoping, as Howard is staying silent on the topic.

Here is what the acclaimed director told Entertainment Weekly:

"I don't really want to explain it. I don't really want to be specific about that because, again, I don't even want that to matter to fans. I could understand why you'd ask, and some might even be curious, but look, everybody who has been involved in this has done nothing but love what this movie could be, and that's been the vibe around it. I think audiences are gonna feel that love and excitement."

Before mentioning this, he assured fans that Lord and Miller's fingerprints are all over this film. Howard shows plenty of respect for the two filmmakers and with this claim, it looks like we can expect some of the duo's comedy in the flick.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time a Star Wars project has lost its director. Rogue One, the first spinoff film, was plagued with directors leaving, so the fact that it was as good as it was might have been a miracle. Even Star Wars Episode IX lost its original director Colin Trevorrow, with J.J. Abrams returning to finish out the new trilogy.

Solo: A Star Wars Story comes out on May 25. Please be good.
