Star Wars: Battlefront II Gets Humiliating Guinness World Record

Star Wars Battlefront II is no longer the mess it was during pre-launch. The game has a lot more content, heroes are relatively easy to unlock, as are the costumes and in-game currency, plus it keeps getting new modes, including the return of Instant action, a beloved single-player mode from the older games. However, its legacy will always be tarnished for the way EA tried to cheat players out of their money during pre-launch and the most downvoted comment in Reddit history.

That final fact is officially a record now since the Guinness Book of World Records has officially listed it as the Most Downvoted Comment in Reddit History with 683,000 downvotes. This is now a worldwide fact that will likely get asked in future game shows and whatnot, adding more humiliation to EA's resume. As if calling single-player games dead wasn't bad enough.

For those unaware, when beta players found out that it would take a long time to unlock heroes like Luke Skywalker, due to the paltry currency given to players after matches, a representative tried to defend the decision, claiming that this was their way of having gamers "earn" rewards. Cue the downvotes that led to this world record being set in the first place, hence the tarnished legacy that will always follow Battlefront II.

Just to be clear, the game is a quality shooter now. Rewards are fairly balanced and there's a lot of content to play, which should make any player happy. While we can appreciate them for fixing these problems, the fact that EA put themselves in this predicament in the first place shouldn't be ignored.

Star Wars Battlefront II is now available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
