The Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series has officially been delayed after numerous reports hinting that there were problems with production. Apparently, there are issues with the scripts and it looks like there will be a ton of rewriting done to make this series better. That might sound a bit depressing to some but we don't mind, especially if it means we'll be getting a superior product once everything is finished and polished up.
Independent sources told Collider that a crew assembled at London's Pinewood Studios were sent home, with no timeframe given. Apparently, they were told that the show would be down indefinitely so it looks like we're in for quite a wait. It seems that the folks at LucasFilm and Disney aren't in a rush to finish this one, which is nice.
Reports also claim that Kathleen Kennedy wasn't happy with the scripts so they are going to rework things and hopefully reassemble this summer. This isn't a major problem if you ask me since rewrites are a natural part of the entertainment business and it's not like they lost another director, which has been a Disney/Star Wars constant when it comes to production news.
Considering the amount of time between Revenge of The Sith and A New Hope, there is a lot they can do with this Obi-Wan Kenobi series. While some of his exploits have been explored in comics and Star Wars: Rebels, there's still a ton of things this show could do. Also, if they do a straight-up adaptation of that Rebels episode, minus the dumb Ezra stuff, people will be super happy.
Don't expect a release date for the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series anytime soon.
