We haven't had any mutant vs vampire action in a while so Marvel fans are probably happy to see a new one-shot called Wolverine vs Blade Special #1 coming out this July. The two characters will be duking it out in a story that is, literally, 10 years in the making. If any of you missed that X-Men story where they fought vampires, this might bring back some fond memories.
Speaking with Monkeys Fighting Robots, writer Marc Guggenheim (of X-Men: Gold fame) revealed that this is a story he had been working on for 10 years. This probably explains why we see the character in his awesome all-black X-Force outfit, which he hasn't worn since Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force.
Man, that was a phenomenal comic book.
Guggenheim is actually a pretty inspired writer to work on this one-shot since he has actually written for both of these characters before. His Civil War: Wolverine mini-series was actually pretty fun and did fill that plot hole in regards to where Nitro went and why none of The Avengers decided to arrest him. Sadly, it didn't acknowledge why people were madder at the New Warriors than Nitro but that's another topic for another time.
Wolverine vs Blade Special #1 comes out this July.
