Niantic Teases Long-Awaited Pokemon GO PVP

We've wanted it since the game was announced but we're finally getting it; Niantic announced that Pokemon GO will finally be getting the heavily-requested PVP (player vs player) mode. It might have taken longer than it should have but it's good to know that this mode will finally be coming to the popular mobile game, even if it's not the worldwide phenomenon it once was.

Niantic revealed that the mobile game would be getting PVP "soon" on Twitter, showing how players will be running into each other whilst playing the mobile game. Similar to how players ran into trainers during the awesome Game Boy games, two different trainers can now battle each other after the exclamation point appears, which is a nice nod to the original games.

Unfortunately, we won't know when this update is going to be coming to the mobile game but we'll have to wait and see, though it shouldn't be too far. There's a good chance that it could be out by the end of the year or much earlier, which would be pretty cool. Honestly, no matter when it comes out, expect a lot of people to bust out their mobile phones and/or redownload their copy of the game.

It's a shame that the update will be coming out after Pokemon Let's Go just came out on the Nintendo Switch but it's better than nothing. Sure, the game doesn't exactly have the same amount of hype it once had when first launched but at least it's still around and making money.

Pokemon GO is available now on iOS and Android.
