James Gunn has been very vocal for the superhero movies that he likes and now that he’s working for both Marvel and DC, fans are excited to see his reactions to even more future films. While most people would have expected him to choose Avengers: Endgame or The Dark Knight as his favorite movie - it’s always too self-indulgent to pick your own movies after all - Gunn has revealed that his favorite superhero film is actually Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

No one should disagree with him. At all.

If you’re not aware, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is one of the best superhero movies ever made and is the greatest film to ever feature Spider-Man in it. Period. Fight me. While the Sam Raimi films were solid and Far From Home was better than it had any right to be, you just can’t deny how Into the Spider-Verse uses the realm of animation to give us one of the best comic book movies.

We do not blame Gunn at all for choosing this movie since it’s been in most people’s top 5 when it comes to the genre unless they like the DCEU or MCU way too much. Still, it was an amazing (ha!) debut for Miles Morales, and the fact that they managed to fit in characters like Spider-Ham and Spider-Gwen without making the story complicated is top-tier.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies are now available in digital stores and various streaming services. Jackpot will be one of the first Into the Spider-Verse spin-off films and is already being worked on.
