Wonder Woman 1984 has been delayed from June to August due to the Coronavirus and most of us don't have a problem with that since no one is sure if this epidemic will go away by then. Some fans aren't even sure if the movie will make its August release date since, once again, the virus still doesn't have a proper cure. However, the movie itself is already done and the people involved in it - Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins - had big plans for this sequel.
According to film analyst Luiz Fernando, Gadot and Jenkins wanted Wonder Woman 1984 to have a more international flair, wanting the film to have an Indiana Jones or James Bond feel. They pushed to have the movie shot in more international locations to give us the impression that Diana isn't just an American hero but one for the whole world, which is actually pretty neat.
The character was actually a spy at one point in the ‘60s, which many people thought was a weird choice but it does have some fans. DC even printed an omnibus about all of her weird spy adventures, which we can't blame them for since the character is more popular now than she ever was. It's a good thing that they didn't actually make her a spy for the movie, though no one would mind if they added elements from those kinds of films.
Here's hoping that the James Bond and Indiana Jones influences are positive for Wonder Woman 1984. It's already building off from the well-received first movie but there's nothing wrong with trying to make things better. The movie is coming out this August.
