Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees is Now Swamp Thing

Swamp Thing is one of the DC Universe shows that fans are fairly excited for since the character has been in a number of great stories in the comic books. Always filled with horror and mystery, the comics that surround the character have been great reads ever since Alan Moore wrote him. He even appeared in an excellent one-off Batman issue last year.

The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that both Swamp Thing and his human host Alec Holland have been cast for the DC Universe streaming service. Andy Bean, who will be a part of It: Chapter 2, will play Alec Holland, the biologist who accidentally turned himself into a monster. Speaking of monster, Derek Mears, who played as Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th reboot back in 2009, will be the guardian of the green.

With both characters in the mix, it should allow for some interesting character dynamics and tense situations. Of course, if the writers are going to go full Alan Moore, they'll reveal that Alec Holland died when the experiment happened and that Swamp Thing merely took his ideas and thought process. These will eventually be abandoned for guarding the green and protecting it from the red.

DC Universe also recently cast Halloween star Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, who will act as the series antagonist. Sunderland wants to profit from the swamp that Holland protects so expect a lot of fighting between the two.

Currently, Swamp Thing has no release date. It will eventually premiere in the DC Universe streaming service.
