Fan Discovers Surprising Dragon Ball Connection in Final Fantasy VII

If you're ignorant, it's really easy to link Japanese things together and assume that they're alike. Most fans who indulge in anime or video games will quickly tell you that Dragon Ball and Final Fantasy have very little in common, aside from spiky-haired antagonists and villains that can summon meteors. However, one fan noticed a really intriguing Dragon Ball Z connection in Final Fantasy VII, which should make a lot of anime and gaming enthusiasts happy.

As the fan points out, Cloud's attire from the original version of Final Fantasy VII looks a lot like the attire Gohan wears during the Cell Saga. Cloud already looks like a Super Saiyan thanks to his spiky blonde hair and green eyes but the purple outfit, alongside a red belt, screams Super Saiyan 2 Gohan. We can't say for sure if this was a loving tribute since Cloud is nothing like Gohan in terms of personality but that is kind of neat.

While Cloud's attire has gone through a darker redesign in Final Fantasy VII Remake, switching out purple for dark blue, some of us do miss the original attires. Square Enix would be wise to give fans some original costume DLC since it would ensure some fans replaying the game for months, maybe even years. Fandom can be pretty crazy like that is all I'm saying.

Final Fantasy VII Remake and the original game are now available on PS4. Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball Super are available through a wide variety of streaming services.
