E3 2020 Might be Canceled Due to the Coronavirus

E3 is often considered as the WrestleMania of video game events since it's usually the place where developers reveal their latest games. While the event has lost some of its luster in recent years, thanks to companies like Sony no longer appearing in the show of shows, the branding of this event will always have some form of legitimacy to gamers. However, due to that dreaded Coronavirus, there's a very good chance that E3 2020 is going to be canceled.

Numerous sources have claimed that the big gaming show has been canceled, from game company Devolver Digital, known for their wacky presentations, to Kotaku's Jason Schreier. Ars Technica also said multiple sources have all but confirmed that the show won't be going on, though a planned PSA was canceled for unknown reasons.

We wouldn't be surprised if they announced that E3 2020 has been canceled since it's the logical thing to do, especially since reports on the big epidemic have been so inconsistent. What's really important is that people stay at home and be safe from the potential disease. People shouldn't panic either but there's nothing wrong with being safe and prepared.

If anything, it's going to be more shocking if E3 2020 isn't canceled. Maybe if they make it a streaming event where they showcase a number of trailers for the big games, that would be understandable. As it stands, the Coronavirus is too big a threat to risk anyone leaving their house to a big public event like E3.

We will update you if they decide to cancel E3 2020.
