Celebrate the Holidays With Marvel’s Mutants in December’s Merry X-Men

The holidays are coming and who better to celebrate than Marvel's merry band of mutants? This December, Marvel will be releasing Merry X-Men #1, a one-shot that will show how our favorite mutants celebrate the holidays. Whether they're celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, or any other December-themed day, this one-shot will have something for you.

In a fairly interesting move, this one-shot will have 24 one-page stories and one six-page story. Marvel usually releases 30-page issues like these so this is a nice way to make them feel more important and worth the money. Knowing this company's history with one-shots, expect this to be US$4.99.

Merry X-Men #1 will have stories from the following creators: Chris Sims, Chad Bowers, Rainbow Rowell, Chris Claremont, Matt Rosenberg, Ed Brisson, Kelly Thompson, Charles Soule, Tini Howard, Charlamagne Tha God, Zac Thompson, Lonnie Nadler, Vita Ayala, Styles P, Cullen Bunn, Jean Grae, Esoteric, Sina Grace, Al Ewing, Leah Williams, Marco Failla, Kris Anka, Ryan Browne, and more.

A number of these creators have worked on X-Men comics before, like the legendary Chris Claremont, who needs no introduction for comic book fans. Chris Sims and Chad Bower wrote the beloved X-Men ‘92 series that spun-off from Secret Wars (2015), so it will be interesting to see who they get their hands on.

Surprisingly enough, Matt Rosenberg, Ed Brisson, and Kelly Thompson are involved in this one-shot. The three are currently writing a 10-issue epic for the relaunched Uncanny X-Men, so seeing them contribute a light holiday tale each is interesting. Maybe this is how they relieve themselves after a (presumably) stressful 10-issue weekly series.

Cullen Bunn is about to wrap up his run in X-Men Blue, so seeing him write one more story here will please fans of his work. Many felt that Bunn's run in the series was pretty good and better than the flawed X-Men Gold run that ran along with it.

Merry X-Men #1 comes out this December.
