Batwoman Will Include an Arrow Trope That Fans Will Either Love or Hate

Remember how Arrow would constantly reveal bits and pieces of Oliver Queen's backstory through flashbacks? Whether he was on the mysterious island or in another country (before going back to that island), fans were constantly updated with Queen's backstory, even if it got grating at times. The CW liked it so much that they will be using that tactic again, this time with Batwoman.

Meagan Tandy, who plays Kate Kane's love interest Sophie Moore, revealed that there will be multiple flashbacks that detail Sophie and Kate's past in the military. This will explore how they struggled in the military, not to mention Sophie's conflict between her love for Kate and her husband. This could end up being a mixed bag but that's what you get when dealing with DC shows from The CW.

Here's what Tandy told fans in New York Comic-Con (via CBR):

"There are definitely going to be some flashbacks and people are going to definitely get a much better understanding as to why this split in military school really happened. Yeah, you don't get that much of it in the pilot. But later on, you're going to be going through this struggle with Sophie because she's trying to figure out, 'Am I living in my truth? Or is my truth my husband? Or Kate?'"

While there are fans who appreciated the flashbacks from Arrow, five years on an island is a lot, after all, they did drag a bit and often made felt like they were just setting Oliver up for some odd lessor or two. The Flash also did this but to a much lesser extent, likely due to how the timelines would constantly change for the weirder. Hopefully, Batwoman finds a good balance and makes these story elements flow better.

Batwoman airs Sundays on The CW.
