Battlestar Galactica Reboot for NBCUniversal's Peacock Gets a Showrunner

NBCUniversal's upcoming Battlestar Galactica reboot is one of the more exciting shows coming out as part of the company's embarrassingly-named Peacock streaming service. As we wait for more details on the show, fans will be happy to know that they found a showrunner so it looks like things for this reboot can get started. Needless to say, there's going to be a lot of pressure on the showrunner and this show, in general, since sci-fi fans freaking love this franchise.

According to Deadline, NBCUniversal has hired Michael Lesslie, who has written The Little Drummer Girl, Macbeth, and the Assassin's Creed movie. That's a mixed resume, to say the least, but we're always willing to give people chances, especially with a franchise like this that can always be brought back to relevancy. Let's just hope that Lesslie brings his A-game since Peacock will need this show to stay relevant against Disney+ and Netflix.

To be fair, this Battlestar Galactica reboot does have Sam Esmail as a producer, which is a very good thing. Esmail has worked on the acclaimed Mr. Robot so we're sure that the show will have some quality to it. At the least, we can expect some good acting and maybe even some awesome special effects.

Battlestar Galactica doesn't have a release date, as of this writing, but will be a part of the Peacock streaming service from NBCUniversal.
