Martin Scorsese is one of the most beloved directors around thanks to an amazing number of movies that have garnered multiple awards and critical acclaim. However, a lot of Marvel fans have grown some disdain for the director ever since he said MCU movies weren’t “cinema.” This led to a lot of interviews with directors who agreed or disagreed with Scorsese, which made for a pretty repetitive news cycle.

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the writers of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, decided to take a shot at the director. When a fan asked the duo if they knew how people would react to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man dying in Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man arms, they said yes because they care about their characters. It’s the final quote that stings since they said: “it’s one of the reasons they’re, y’know, cinema.”

The debate about whether these movies are actually cinema will go on until the end of time, assuming that more Marvel movies keep being made. Still, we can all agree about liking what we like and disliking what we dislike. If you like Marvel movies, don’t annoy someone who doesn’t like them and vice-versa. That’s all we can do, really.

Avengers: Infinity War is now available on digital stores, along with its conclusion in Avengers: Endgame.
