New Honest Trailer Reminds Fans How Groundbreaking The Blade Trilogy Actually Is

Black Panther's hitting cinemas this Friday and the Screen Junkies has decided to celebrate the release of Marvel's all-black superhero film by firing shots at the studio's other black superhero-led movie, Blade.

Posting a new Honest Trailer for the Blade trilogy, the Screen Junkies don't waste time poking fun at everything, including Marvel's early attempts at superhero films. Reminding fans of the time when Marvel movies were basically video flops, unreleased cult movies and whatever kind of film Howard the Duck had, the Honest Trailer video goes on to dissect one of the studio's better releases – Blade.

Of course, in true fashion, the video nails down a lot of great jokes about the vampire movie and its sequels, calling out at the trilogy's flaws, like its lazy way of naming things. Turning objects into specialized vampire items just by tacking on the word "vampire" before every other noun just comes off as lazy writing, really.

But aside from that, the Honest Trailer also reminds fans that the Blade trilogy actually has a lot of firsts for Marvel. It's the first black superhero led trilogy (sorry Black Panther) , the first comic book movie were Ryan Reynolds has a smart mouth (yep, way before Deadpool ) and the first Marvel franchise to have a solid origin story.

Of course, Blade has its quirks, but it's great looking back at Marvel's past films to remind ourselves how good we've got it now.

Black Panther hits cinemas in the U.S. this Friday, February 16.
