Ever since it was announced during Marvel's Comic-Con presentation two years ago that Oscar winner Mahershala Ali will be playing Blade, fans have been excited to see him on the big screen. There haven't been many updates about the project until last month when it was reported that Mogul Mowgli director Bassam Tariq has been hired to helm the film.

Just a short while ago, we reported that Marvel India's official Twitter account claimed in its post that the film will be released in cinemas on October 7, 2022. Fans were confused with the tweet as it was initially thought that the film will be released around 2023. There have been questions if the date is actually true, unintentionally leaked, or it was just a mistake.

But since then, the tweet has been deleted and nowhere to be seen anymore. Deadline reporter Justin Kroll has also tweeted that the film won't start shooting until late spring or early summer 2022 which means the rumored October 2022 release date seems to be unlikely.

It really is unlikely that the film will be able to be released by October 2022. After all, Tariq was just hired last month. If you look at Marvel's production timelines in the past, between the hiring of a director and the start of filming, it usually takes around a year or less. There's a lot of preparations and pre-production work that have to be done before they start filming, especially in a big-budget Marvel project.

If the film will actually get released by October 2022, they should be shooting right now. But the film hasn't been casting or hiring the rest of the creative team yet which means it is still far from the start of the shooting date. Kroll is a very reliable entertainment reporter so his information is highly likely to be true. In addition, The Hollywood Reporter also mentioned in a report months ago that they've heard that filming for the MCU project will start in July 2022. With all this information, there is no reason to believe that the film will make it on the rumored October 2022 date.
