Michael Bay To Direct Transformers 5 and It Will Be His Last

Despite previously casting doubt of his involvement, Michael Bay just confirmed that he's directing Tranformers 5 for the summer 2017 release.

While speaking to Rolling Stone about his upcoming thriller 13 Hours, Bay confirms that he will direct the next Transformers film.

"‘I'm doing Transformers ... 5, is it?" Bay says, temporarily losing track. He shakes his head. ‘I've taken on a lot of work.'"

He went on to say that it will be his last film, but we've heard him say that in previous sequels before.

"Transformers, I still have a great time. It's fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else."

Transformers 5 is set to be written by Iron Man writers Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down) with Transformers: Age of Extinction star Mark Wahlberg also returning for the film. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows will debut in theaters on June 3.
