Marvel Casts Game of Thrones Star Finn Jones Finn Jones as Iron Fist

Marvel has cast Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones for the lead role for Netflix's upcoming series Iron Fist, Entertainment Weeklyreports. Since he did well playing Loras Tyrell in HBO's fantasy TV series, I think he's a fantastic choice to play the mythical martial arts superhero master.

It would be interesting to see Jones portray an entirely different character, and I think his character will fit well with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher.

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

In the comics, Iron Fist, AKA Daniel Rand, traveled to a lost mystical city called K'un-L'un with his family at the age of 9. After a series of tragic events, Daniel is adopted by the city's ruler and taught an advanced form martial arts as well as the mystical power of the Iron Fist, which basically allows him to channel his chi to the extreme, granting him powers of healing, telepathy, and super fighting abilities. Years later, when he returns to New York City, he becomes a superhero.

Dexter's Scott Buck will be the showrunner for the series. Netflix hasn't announced a release date yet. Since production hasn't started yet, it'll probably premiere sometime next year, at the earliest. We'll keep you updated here on Epicstream once we get more details about the show.

Finn Jones also shared a crazy Game of Thrones theory about Bran. You can read that here.
