The MAPPA Stage Event 2021 provided fans with a lot of new information about their shows including panel discussions, new projects, key visuals, and even much-awaited trailers. The 10th-anniversary event was live-streamed on MAPPA's YouTube channel which let fans all over the world witness and take part in said event.

One of the most awaited releases that fans were looking forward to was the first promotional video for Chainsaw Man by Tatsuki Fujimoto. It should be noted that the event was scheduled to be 5 hours long considering that they were going to cover multiple series.

So throughout the whole duration of the stream, fans were flooding and dominating the live chat with Chainsaw Man-related remarks. They kept demanding the trailer in the middle of the other shows' panels, disregarding the fact that the event isn't centered on one series.

People all over Twitter have expressed their annoyance for these kinds of fans who were behaving rudely all over the live chat:

But for many, probably one of the most annoying things of all from the live chat was the excessive flooding of the "bark for Makima" meme.

Makima is the main antagonist of the Public Safety arc and is considered a waifu by a lot of fans. It's explicitly shown throughout the story that she treats Denji as her pet—specifically, a dog. So, the "bark for Makima" meme was born. Any social media post that involves Makima (usually cosplayers and fan arts) would generally have comments that say either "bark", "woof", or a combination of both.

These types of toxic fans are considered an embarrassment by other people in the fandom and it's not difficult to see why. A little decency and respect go a long way in this world.

Just like in the manga, maybe the Chainsaw Man fandom needs an anti-Makima squad after all.
