The Quintessential Quintuplets follow the Nakano quintuplets Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki who are academically struggling as all of them tend to be interested in all other things not related to studying such as sports, baking, shopping, among many others. Each quintuplet wears a different personality and style making it easier to know who is who.
Belonging to a rich family, the quintuplets get a private tutor in Futaro Uesugi who is academically gifted and is in a difficult position in life after he lost his mother, his father debt-ridden, and without any friends both in and out of school.
The quintuplets did not wholly accept Futaro at first as they treated him as a stranger in their apartment but soon and with Futaro’s grit, diligence, and tenacity, he then convinced each of the quintuplets to accept him and his help in hopes that their grades would improve and their academic performance get better.
Over the course of the series, Futaro went on having different special relationships with each of the quintuplets. Given their different personalities sprung different perspectives, all these Futaro had to work on which later on became special relationships.
The Quintessential Quintuplets is produced by Bibury Animation Studios and is based on the Japanese shōnen manga of the same name by Negi Haruba.
Available on both Funimation and Crunchyroll, each of the episodes of the Quintessential Quintuplets get fun and exciting twists and turns in the story. A flashforward reveals that Futaro will be married to one of the quintuplets, however, it was not shown as to who of the five would be his bride, and to date, it still remains a mystery.
Many fans and viewers have been excited to discover who will be Futaro’s bride among the five ladies in front of him and will this be the season when it would be appearing on. Spilling the truth real quick, it’s a hard guess, but it’s likely that it would not be appearing this season.
Truth be told, if it would be this season, it would be too quick or too soon. There is still a lot to the story to get there as marriage is no joke, to be honest. Futaro has yet to discover more about each of the quintuplets and the story will somehow have a real quick ending if the bride would be revealed immediately.
As of the time of writing, there is no confirmation yet as to whether the Quintessential Quintuplets would be having a third season. It would be safer to say that building up to who Futaro’s bride would be will be needing one whole season or even half for it. The remaining episodes of the second season of Quintessential Quintuplets would not just be enough for that arc.
Given that the manga series is not yet over, there would be enough material for the basis of the animated series. It would be a treat to all the fans, viewers, readers, and followers of the story to see more of the lovable quintuplets and their quirks.
But if and when the doors will be closing on the face of the animated series, it would be justified if the bride of Futaro would be revealed as a series finale.
Still, hopes are up as there is a high chance it will be renewed for another season and hopefully, we finally get to know who among Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki will be the bride of Futaro.
The Quintessential Quintuplets airs weekly on both Funimation and Crunchyroll every Friday at 1:28 AM JST/ 11:28 EST.
