Rumors and speculations have been circulating online as to the return of Chris Evans' Captain America in the MCU and fans have theorized that Captain America will make an appearance on the upcoming limited series of The Falcon and The Winter Solider. While there is still no confirmation as to whether or not Captain America will be back, Chris Evans has been shady saying that coming back as Captain America is "not a hard no but not an eager yes, either." With his answer, it is hard to say if the doors are ultimately closed for his return.

Chris Evans said that Avengers: Endgame was close to his heart as it gave him a moment to reflect on his character and be grateful for the opportunity of being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Looking back in the MCU, Steve Rogers had a long history from being a scrawny New Yorker in the ‘40s wanting to become part of the military to being a super-soldier hero in the present. Chris Evans applauds the closure Endgame has given to Captain America.

It is safe to say that Captain America has traveled in time to make up for the time he lost while being trapped in ice and although it is puzzling to see him age after he returned the stones to their place in time, it can only be assumed that he retired for good when he gave his shield to Sam Wilson.

Having his two best pals, it seems like Steve Rogers did have decades to think as to whom he would give his shield to and carry the legacy that comes with it. After all, he knows them both well to consider who will be the next Captain America. When he gave the shield to Sam, Bucky seems to have been happy with the choice although Sam seemed puzzled and flattered at the same time.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which is set after the events of the final battle with the Mad Titan, has the possibility to visit Captain America as an old retired hero. Given that the MCU is exploring time-travel and multiverse, anything is possible.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier premieres on March 19, 2021, on Disney+.
