My Hero Academia Season 5 English dub is one of the lingering questions that come along with the announcement of the return of the beloved anime series in a few days and along with the English dub is its release as to when it would be and where.

My Hero Academia has been a household name in both anime and manga series being one of the most popular titles released in the 2010s. The Japanese superhero shōnen manga series of Kōhei Horikoshi started in 2014 and the anime series produced by Bones had its inception in 2016. It has been a staple anime for both fans and viewers.

The shōnen manga series of Horikoshi started as a one-shot only, My Hero, and the author himself intended to turn it into a series. Wish granted, My Hero Academia became a manga series published in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump and to date, it has been collected into 29 tankōbon volumes. English publication is given to My Hero Academia as well by Viz Media.

My Hero Academia follows Izuku Midoriya, one who is someone born without any superpowers in a world where it is common for one to have it or what is more commonly known as a "quirk," who dreams of becoming a superhero himself. Midoriya was spotted by the greatest hero of Japan, All Might, who scouted Midoriya and shares his quirk with Midoriya after he sees the potential in him to become a superhero. Midoriya was able to enroll in the prestigious school where heroes go for training, thanks to the help of All Might.

My Hero Academia became an animated series thanks to the efforts of the production company of Bones and the creative team composing of Kenji Nagasaki as the director, Yōsuke Kuroda as the writer, Yoshihiko Umakoshi as a designer of the characters, and Yuki Hayashi as the one responsible for the music in the anime series.

My Hero Academia's voice cast are Daiki Yamashita as Izuku Midoriya, Kenta Miyake as All Might, Marina Inoue as Momo Yaoyorozu, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Fumikage Tokoyami, Ryou Hirohashi as Minoru Mineta, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Katsuki Bakugō, Kaito Ishikawa as Tenya Iida, Ayane Sakura as Ochako Uraraka, and Aoi Yuki as Tsuyu Asui.

Funimation made it possible for My Hero Academia to reach higher feats as they acquired the official license for international streaming and they forged various partnerships with different distributing companies in United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia.

The success of the first season of My Hero Academia led the anime series to secure a second season, a third, a fourth, and now it is in its fifth season. The fifth season has been announced in 2020 and while it experienced a bump on the road such as the global pandemic caused by the coronavirus, the fifth season is about to push through this year.

My Hero Academia Season 5 released trailers showing key visuals for the incoming season of the anime series. It is expected to follow the formula of the previous seasons of having 25 episodes and it will also reportedly be a split-cour where it would be having a break by the 12th and 13th episode before going for a three-month TV broadcast block in preparation for the second part of the rest of the season.

With the release date of My Hero Academia set in stone, the English dub is expected to be released as well. The sound director of My Hero Academia Season 5, Masafumi Mima, shared on his official Twitter account that in the midst of the pandemic, they are still pursuing the recording of the dub and practicing social distancing. Mima said that the dub is being worked on step by step.

Mima says that they need to ensure that their cast is safe despite requiring more work for the sound technicians. It is expected that Funimation will air the English dubbed version of My Hero Academia in a simultaneous release as a simuldub. This means that if it would be an English simuldub, it would be released the same day as that of the premiere day of Season 5.

Before, My Hero Academia is exclusive to Funimation and its partner distributors in foreign locations. Now, the anime series will also be made available in Crunchyroll, Hulu, and VRV. Netflix will also be airing My Hero Academia Season 5 as well, however, it is just limited to certain locations and unfortunately, Netflix US is not one of those. Said streaming platforms will be showing the anime series with the original Japanese audio with English subtitles.

That being said, My Hero Academia Season 5 English Dub is expected to be released on March 27, 2021, the same time as the premiere of the pilot episode of My Hero Academia Season 5.

My Hero Academia premieres on March 27, 2021, Saturday, at 5.30 PM JST/ 3:30 AM EST via Funimation.
