The Falcon And The Winter Soldier's plot will revolve around Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, and Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier, as they face the world post-Captain America and would have to continue carrying the legacy of Captain America and the shield to fight for both justice and what is right.

After the fall of the Mad Titan in The Avengers: Endgame, Captain America took the responsibility of returning the infinity stones to their proper and respective timelines where they came from in order to keep the timeline seamless and undisturbed. Much to the surprise of Bruce Banner and Sam Wilson, Steve Rogers did not appear back in their time-traveling device.

Instead, Steve returned as an old man waiting on the side of the lake with a genuine smile on his face. Even before Steve went away, Bucky seems to have an inkling of what Steve would do which is why he doesn't seem to be surprised when Steve arrived with gray hair and a wedding band on his finger indicating he finally got the dance he promised with Peggy.

Steve Rogers confirms his retirement as an Avenger as he passed the shield of Captain America to Sam Wilson. Wilson, on the other hand, seemed confused and flattered at the same time. Though it unclear if he would take on the mantle of Captain America, there was no showing that Sam Wilson agreed or that he would be Captain America.

In the canon series of The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, Sam and Bucky will team up to continue the legacy of Captain America and fight for the cause he established over the years of being the star-spangled hero of America.

The official synopsis is as follows:

"After being handed the mantle of Captain America at the end of Avengers: Endgame, Sam Wilson teams up with Bucky Barnes in a worldwide adventure that puts their abilities to the test as they fight the anarchist group the Flag-Smashers."

The Falcon, alongside The Winter Soldier, will be facing the man behind the fall of Sokovia as well with Daniel Bruhl's Helmut Zemo returning to wreak havoc once more. Emily VanCamp's Sharon Carter aka Agent 13, niece of Peggy Carter, will also be returning in the series as well which could shed some light as to what happened with her after the events of Captain America: Winter Soldier.

The Flag Smashers will also be introduced in the series as an anarchist group tearing down peace and wreaking havoc in the series. Erin Kellyman is confirmed to play Karli Morgenthau, one of the members of the Flag-Smashers.

Given the series is only six-episodes short, there are a lot of questions buzzing around that the series could answer and take on. One would be if Captain America/ Steve Rogers would appear in the series. While there is no confirmation yet whether he would be back, a leak suggests that the first episode will be titled "Repose en Paix, Cap," the French translation of Rest In Peace, Cap.

Another question that brings weight is how would they reconcile their differences for their common goal of carrying the mantle left by Captain America. In various trailers, it has been shown that the two are not always in agreement with everything but they need to work together in order to bring about justice and what is right.

The most important question, however, is who will be taking on the shield of Captain America. While it is given to Sam, there are scenes on the trailers with Bucky carrying the shield as well. With the introduction of Wyatt Russell's John Walker, he could also be a candidate to don the shield as he is the US Agent that the government would like to put in and fill the shoes of Captain America for the government.
